Kimberly J. McWaters is the president and CEO of Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (UTI), an organization with revenues of $311 million in the 2005 fiscal year. During her 22 year tenure, McWaters has guided UTI through several remarkable milestones, including UTI’s initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in 2003.
As chief executive officer, she is responsible for leading UTI’s dynamic growth in the technical training industry and enhancing strategic relationships within the automotive, motorcycle and marine industries to develop opportunities for UTI graduates.
Today, McWaters is the only female CEO of a publicly owned company in Arizona . She has received national and industry recognition for her leadership. For example: Reuters featured McWaters as an expert resource in a panel of select automotive leaders for its annual Automotive Industry Summit; Forbes spotlighted McWaters for creating a new business model that leveraged relationships with dealerships and manufacturers to benefit UTI students; BusinessWeek listed UTI as the second-hottest company to watch in its Top 100 Best Small Companies list; The National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) selected McWaters to present at its annual 2006 industry conference focusing on how to recruit, manage and retain Generation Y as the new automotive workforce; and Automotive News highlighted McWaters in an article about UTI’s dedication to solve the automotive technician shortage.
A passionate advocate of several community service projects, McWaters has served on the Fresh Start Executive Board since March 2004. She currently resides in Glendale with her husband, Chris, and her three children.
Nancy Loftin is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation (PNW) and Arizona Public Service Company (APS). PNW is a Phoenix-based company with consolidated assets of approximately $9 billion. Through its subsidiaries, the largest of which is APS, the company generates, sells and delivers electricity and sells energy-related products and services to retail and wholesale customers in the western United States. It also develops residential, commercial, and industrial real estate projects. APS is the largest electric utility in the State of Arizona serving more than one million customers and is the second fastest growing investor owned electric utility in the nation.
Nancy is responsible for legal issues facing PNW and its subsidiaries, including APS, APS Energy Services, SunCor Development, and El Dorado Investment. She has a staff of 20 lawyers at PNW and its subsidiaries that specialize in regulatory, environmental, securities, commercial and real estate transactions, nuclear, employment and labor law. Nancy also serves as Secretary for the companies, handling corporate governance issues and managing the Shareholder Services and Records Departments.
Nancy joined APS in 1985 as a staff attorney and became and officer in 1987. Before joining APS, she was Special Counsel and Director of Enforcement for the Arizona Corporation Commission, Securities Division.
