  Volunteer Profile

Volunteers bring heart to an organization and volunteering helps fill one’s heart. Fresh Start has been blessed since the beginning with some of the most talented, dedicated and giving volunteers in Arizona.

Becoming a Fresh Start Volunteer is simple.

1. Choose the volunteer opportunity that interests you from the descriptions below.

2. Download and complete the volunteer application form.

3. Fax or mail the application form using the contact information on the form.

4. Smile! You are on your way to making a difference in the lives of other women.

Within 72 hours of receiving your application form, someone will contact you to schedule your orientation. If you have any questions, please contact the Volunteer Services Manager, Donna Martin, at 602-261-7148 or volunteer@fswf.org.

Mentor

Work one-on-one with a woman who is trying hard to turn her life around. A Mentor’s role is to assist her Mentee with life skills, problem solving, decision making, job retention and career development. In this goal-based program Mentors are asked to help keep their Mentee focused on her goals with positive, loving support. Mentors must make a 6-month commitment and meet certain qualifications. There is a $30 charge for the Mentor’s background check. Mentors are required to communicate once per week by phone, and twice per month in person with their Mentee.

To find out more about the Mentoring Program, please contact Chloe Hanson at 602-261-7172. All applicants are screened, and after the initial phone screening, an application will be mailed, followed by an in-person interview. The matching process takes anywhere from 1-8 weeks. New Mentor orientations are available every other month. The Mentoring Staff is available for ongoing support and communication for both the Mentors and Mentees.
