Career Services Overview
Fresh Start’s Career Services assists women in various stages of professional development. Whether you are returning to work after an extended absence, seeking advancement, changing careers, or newly embarking on your professional journey, we provide tools to build your confidence moving forward. Search for jobs in our computer center or job-posting book, create resumes and cover letters, gain interviewing tips, or research educational opportunities. Our Career Coaches can meet one-on-one to provide job searching advice, administer career assessments, help you craft a resume or cover letter, or simply offer guidance. Career Coaches are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Saturday. Call in advance for a schedule of available dates and times.

Stop in for a personalized, one-on-one session with a Fresh Start Career Coach. Coaches are available on a walk-in, first come first served basis, Monday-Saturday, to fit your busy schedule. Career Assessments
Are you unsure about what kind of career you are looking for or are you considering a career change?? Fresh Start has partnered with the Arizona Department of Education to offer Fresh Start women the opportunity to complete a variety of career assessments. These assessments will examine your personality, enjoyable work skills and work values and provide you with listings of your best matched careers. Once you complete the assessments you will also have the opportunity to complete specific career research. To get started, write down the username and password below and click on the link to be redirected to the website. Once you log-in, create your own username and password so that you may save your results. If you would like to discuss your results further please feel free to meet with any of our experienced Career Coaches (please bring copies of your results to the coaching session).

Workshops
Professional Employment Makeover
Finding employment can sometimes feel like a full-time job! This two-part workshop will equip you with the tools and techniques necessary to get the job you’ve always wanted. Learn how to craft a stellar resume and give an excellent interview. This workshop is limited to 15 women, so pre-registration is encouraged.
Part I – Resume Writing and Interview Techniques Workshop – Resume Writing will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 AM and Interview Techniques from 12 - 2 PM. Participants must attend both sessions. There will be a lunch break from 11:30 -12 PM, however lunch will not be provided.
Part II – Mock Interview – Interviews will be conducted by experienced Career Coaches, who will review the interview with you and provide constructive feedback. To participate, you must have attended Part I listed above. Appointments for mock interviews will be made during Part I.
Resume Classes
Having a professional and up-to-date resume is imperative to conducting an effective job search. This workshop will teach you how to craft a resume that will grab the attention of the employer and present you as the professional you want to be. Found out about the tips and tricks you need to stand out in this competitive job market. Classes are held the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month from 10-12.
Career Encouragement Group
Are you unsure about how to conduct a job search and market yourself effectively in this troubling economy? Join the Career Services Department and other fellow job seekers for this encouragement group that will assist you in becoming more confident in your job search. Each session will include an opportunity to receive education on key job searching tactics, share resources and network with fellow job seekers as well as the opportunity to gain the encouragement needed to be more successful in your job search! This is an open group that will meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 10-11:30 AM.

Starting Fresh Back-to-School Event
Have you ever thought about going back to school? If so then join Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center at the Starting Fresh Back to School Event. The day will be filled with informational and inspirational presentations on topics such as financing your education, picking the right school for you and life as a non-traditional student. There will also be several schools from all over the Valley to provide you with vital information in order to make good decisions about your future education. Fresh Start Employment Fair
This event will help women connect with a multitude of job opportunities around the Valley. If you are seeking employment, looking for a career change, or searching for future options, join us to meet top employers from around the Phoenix area that represent a variety of positions, industries and professions. Bring copies of your resume and dress to impress, as professional attire is required. If you need assistance with creating a resume, honing your interview skills or obtaining interview appropriate attire, please contact Fresh Start (602) 252-8494.

Mini-Education Fairs
Join Fresh Start and local Valley schools to learn more about how to further your education. Educational workshops will be provided in various areas including how to obtain scholarships, how to choose the right school for you and career options. Attendees can also take advantage of the opportunity to meet with school representatives to discover more about specific degree programs and requirements. If you have always wanted to return to school now is the time to act! Mini-Education Fairs are held the third Friday of every month, excluding the months of May thru August. For more information contact the Career Services Department.
Young Women Professionals Event
This event provides women the opportunity to expand their skills, knowledge and networks. Women who attend will be able to participate in multiple workshops, which cover a variety of professional development topics that are presented by amazing local professionals. Workshops topics are tailored to meet the current professional development needs of women. (This event is held once a year in the Fall)
Volunteer Opportunities
Career Coach
Coaches are professionals that volunteer their time to provide information and guidance to women regarding their career. They assist women with resume and cover letter writing, job searching, identifying educational opportunities, career guidance and goal setting, interviewing skills, and professional development. Career Coaches see women one-on-one on a walk-in basis. Coaches make their own schedule and shifts are available during the evenings and on weekends! If you have a background in human resources, recruiting, hiring, career counseling, education or management, then this could be the opportunity for you.
Mock Interviewer
These volunteers facilitate mock interviews to women who are completing the Professional Employment Makeover series found in the Job Readiness section of the Fresh Start Workshop Catalog. Volunteers will facilitate a life-like interview to women – participants will be expected to dress appropriately, answer questions and present themselves confidently. After completing the 15-20 minute interview portion, the volunteer will provide constructive and helpful feedback on areas for improvement or practice, as well as, the areas where the woman did well. If you have experience interviewing candidates to determine if they are the right match for a job, then this opportunity is a perfect fit!
Workshop Presenter
This opportunity will allow for individuals with a background in career counseling or human resources to facilitate workshops in the areas of Job Readiness and Career Advancement. Presenters are welcome to facilitate already existing workshops or propose a topic they feel is timely and relevant to a women’s job search. If you love to teach and have experience facilitating workshops, then this position will be an excellent match for you.
Computer Lab Specialist
The Computer Lab Specialist acts as guide for women who are utilizing the various self-directed computer labs within the center. Volunteers will assist women with basic computer questions and provide career resources and information as necessary. Also, the volunteer will monitor computer usage, printing and copying. This person will ensure that women are effectively utilizing the computers and are comfortable embracing technology. If technology is your strong suit then this is the position for you!
