Each year Fresh Start Women’s Foundation holds three signature fundraising events which help raise funds to support the operation of the Jewell McFarland Lewis - Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center. At these events there is something for everyone. If you love fashion, you won’t want to miss our annual Fashion Gala held in February, presented by AZ Society and Westcor. For golfers, there is the Fresh Start Charity Golf Classic each fall with a car on every hole and a million dollar shoot-out. If you simply want to spend an hour at a community breakfast hearing the compelling story of our work, we present the Fresh Start Breakfast in the fall. Fresh Start also has many public and internal events to accomodate the needs of our clients, celebrate the contributions of our wonderful volunteers, and to commemorate the anniversary of our Center. We hope to see you at our next event.
Saturday, February 7th, 2009 The 13th annual Fashion Gala will be held next February at the Arizona Biltmore. The evening will include cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and a fabulous New York-style runway fashion show. Friday, May 9th, 2008 Mark your calendars for the Fourth Annual Fresh Start Community Event, a luncheon designed to educate people who are interested in the mission and the passion of this organization. Presented by the Auxiliary Board of Directors, this is the perfect time for volunteers, staff, board members and friends to invite others to learn more about the organization they love. The program lasts just 60 minutes, including lunch, but don’t let the short time frame confuse you. There is enormous impact in the message presented about the work of the Jewell McFarland Lewis Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center. It will be the most fulfilling hour you’ll ever spend. Fresh Start Charity Golf Classic Friday, November 14th, 2008 The Men’s Board has hosted the Golf Classic since 2000. In the last eight years, the group has raised a cumulative total of $1,484,000 to benefit the Foundation’s unique self-help center for women. Six Year Anniversary Celebration October 1, 2008 Join us as we celebrate another incredible year of helping women help themselves. The Center will be open for regular business, but the lobby will look festive. More details to come.
May 19, 2007 This free event is designed to connect women around the valley with a multitude of job opportunities. Women needing a job, looking for a career change or searching for new options are invited to come and interview with over 30 of the Valley's top employers and staffing agencies offering employment opportunities for a variety of levels and professions. Be prepared with multiple copies of your resume. Professional attire is required. If you need assistance with your resume or interviewing skills please call the front desk at 602-252-8494.
August 4, 2007 Clients curious about furthering their education spend a day meeting with educational institutions and scholarship lenders. There will also be opportunities to listen to inspirational speakers and attend workshops on the subject of continued education. The day always holds many surprises for the women who attend. Volunteer Recognition Luncheon Once a year Fresh Start publicly recognizes its incredible volunteers, speakers, mentors, event support, administrative support, career coaches, and other valuable volunteer staff. December 2008 The Fresh Start Mentoring program will celebrate the close of another successful year of women helping women help themselves. This event is for Fresh Start mentors and mentees. Financial Fitness Book
In 1996 Fresh Start published a book that helps women understand the basics of finance. In this handy, practical 228-page workbook, women will learn budget basics, how to teach their children about money and identifying triggers to keep good credit. Written in both English and Spanish, “A Woman’s Guide to Taking Charge – Basic Tools for Managing Your Money” is on sale at the Jewell McFarland Lewis-Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center. Cover price is $14.95, however copies are on sale at the Center for just $7.00. |
